Green Ridge State Forest is one of Maryland's most popular off-roading destinations and spans over 47,500 acres. Visitors have been known to spot a wide range of wildlife creatures, including bald eagles, black bears, deer, turkeys, and more. The Assateague Island National Seashore is Maryland's most unique off-roading destination. It is located on a barrier island off the coast. Instead of wooded trails and creek crossings, the Assateague Island National Seashore offers sandy beach dunes to put your Jeep to the test with. However, the trails span 37 miles, and you can also find marshes and forests to explore as well. Being an island, visitors can also expect to be able to enjoy swimming, sunbathing, kayaking, and enjoying breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. The island is also home to a wild horse population which is believed to be descendants of horses that survived an 18th-century shipwreck. Additionally, the island is home to several historical landmarks for visitors to learn about its history.
