Exterior Design of the 2023 Dodge Hornet

The 2023 Dodge Hornet was carefully designed to capture the brand’s American muscle heritage while re-entering the CUV segment. This effort shines through when you look at the Hornet’s exterior. Beginning at the front, you’ll instantly notice the Hornet’s confident stance that is extenuated by the wide grille with the Dodge Rhombi symbol at the center. The mail-slot grille opening nods at the Charger and its muscle car style. The muscle car design continues down the sides with sharp lines and elegant curves. To give the Hornet’s design a hint of ruggedness, it features matte black lower cladding. Other exterior features include heat extractors integrated into the hood and slim headlight housings, giving off an aggressive glare.

What is the 2023 Dodge Hornet Interior Like?

To understand the Hornet’s interior design, take everything you know about other CUV interiors and throw it out the window. Kicking off a new generation of Dodge’s interior design, the Hornet comes with a refreshed, high-tech interior design. The Hornet features a driver-centric dashboard, giving the driver a cockpit-like feel whenever they’re behind the wheel. This is done by shifting the position of the center stack slightly to face the driver. On top of the center stack is a 10.25-inch touchscreen running the new Uconnect 5 infotainment software. This is equipped with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa with home-to-car functions, available 4G LTE WiFi, TomTom navigation with over-the-air updates, and much more. Behind the steering wheel, you’ll find a crisp 12.3-inch fully digital gauge cluster with three configurable frames.

What Engines Are Available for the 2023 Dodge Hornet?

The Dodge Hornet comes with two available engines, depending on the Hornet model you pick. The Hornet GT employs a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four cylinder engine named Hurricane4. This engine emits 265-plus horsepower alongside 290 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful gas-powered CUV on the market, giving you a 0-60 time of just 6.5 seconds. The Hurricane4 engine mates to a nine-speed automatic transmission powering an all-wheel drivetrain as standard equipment. Meanwhile, the R/T comes with a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain that links a 1.3L turbocharged inline-4 cylinder engine to a rear axle-mounted 90 kWh electric motor. This gives the Hornet 285-plus horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, bringing the 0-60 time down to 6.1 seconds. The Hornet R/T uses the turbocharged engine to power the front wheels and the electric motor to drive the rear wheels, giving you total all-weather confidence. The PHEV system is linked to a six-speed automatic transmission.
