2021 Renegade Design and New Trim Levels
The Jeep Renegade definitely includes all the classic design elements you can expect from the heritage brand. It has a sporty appearance overall, with an upright frame, round headlamps, and a seven-slot grille. The exterior accents are either black, body color or chrome depending on which trim level you choose, and you can also opt for a dual-pane panoramic sunroof with the new Sun & Sound Group. Inside, the Renegade seats up to five, with a 60/40 folding rear seat bench, as well as a fully foldable passenger’s seat, perfect for packing larger items like surfboards or skis. The new Jeepster model builds upon the base-level Renegade Sport, adding its own unique spin in the form of black exterior accents, tinted windows, and signature Jeepster badges. Similarly, the new 80th Anniversary Edition also features specialty badges, as well as LED exterior lighting, and an 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C NAV.
What are the 2021 Renegade’s Tech Features?
The Renegade features a clean and simplistic dashboard that gives you all the essentials to keep you and your passengers entertained. The Renegade features the Uconnect infotainment system, which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. The touchscreen starts out at 7 inches and sizes up to 8.4 as you move up the list of trim levels. As part of the new Sun and Sound Group, the standard 6-speaker audio system is swapped out for a Premium nine-speaker Kenwood Audio System, including a 506-watt amplifier. Additional tech features include remote vehicle start technology using your smartphone or watch, and a monthly Vehicle Health Report courtesy of the SiriusXM Guardian app.
What’s Under the Hood of the Jeep Renegade?
The standard engine on many of the lower trims is the 2.4-liter inline-4, which produces 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The Trailhawk and Limited trims receive a boost in power thanks to the 1.3-liter turbocharged inline-4, which offers up 177 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque. Both engines pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, and 4-wheel drive is standard on the Trailhawk and Limited, though the lower trims have it as an option as well. In terms of capability, the Renegade handles well across the board. However, the real star is the Trailhawk trim, which has the Jeep Trail Rated Badge for its off-road prowess. The Trailhawk also features some extra equipment like all-terrain tires, hill-descent control, and a raised suspension to enhance its performance. All 4-wheel drive Renegade models will also receive Jeep’s signature 4X4 systems.
