We here at Len Stoler CDJR, don’t want your car buying experience to be a bad one and that is why we created this comparison review. We have taken two of the most popular SUVs on the market, the 2020 Jeep Compass and the 2020 Toyota RAV4, and we are comparing all they have to offer below, so keep reading to find out which one we recommend.

2020 Jeep Compass Power & Handling

Each Compass model is powered by the same Tigershark engine in the 2020 model year. This 2.4-liter 4-cylinder MultiAir2 engine pumps out 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. Depending on the drivetrain and trim level the driver chooses, there are three transmission options, a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, or a 9-speed automatic. The Compass also delivers a Best-in-Class highway fuel economy rating of up to 32 highway mpg. FWD is standard for all trims while 4WD is available except for the Trailhawk where it is standard.

2020 Toyota RAV4 Power & Handling

Just like with the Compass, every RAV4 trim level is powered by the same engine. This 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine produces up to 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. There is just one transmission match however and it is an 8-speed automatic. FWD is standard but AWD is offered for all but two trims where it is standard.

2020 Jeep Compass Features & Design

Drivers can choose between four Compass trim levels in the 2020 model year. The base model, called the Sport, is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, heated mirrors, height-adjustable front seats, a 6-speaker sound system, Apple and Android smartphone integration, dual-zone automatic climate control, and multiple USB ports. The other trims add keyless entry and ignition, roof rails, leather seat upholstery, rear air vents, a color information display, remote engine start, a power driver’s seat, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a heated steering wheel, and more! The Trailhawk trim comes ready for off-roading with skid plates, a raised suspension, all-terrain tires, skid plates, and the Selec-Terrain dial.

2020 Toyota RAV4 Features & Design

There are six trim levels to choose from when it comes to the RAV4 in the 2020 model year. The base trim is known as the LE and it comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, driver safety aids, a 7-inch touchscreen, a 6-speaker sound system, a 7-inch touchscreen, LED headlights, and a USB port. The other trims add a power-adjustable driver’s seat, an 8-inch touchscreen, a sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, larger wheels, and a power liftgate. The Adventure and TRD Off-Road come with fender flares, selectable terrain drive modes, hill descent control, an off-road-tuned suspension, and all-terrain tires.

Conclusion:

It may look like the Toyota RAV4 is the better choice on paper with a tad more engine power and two additional trim levels to choose from but really you should pick the Jeep Compass. Not only does it come equipped with FWD or 4WD rather than AWD but the Trailhwk was made for real off-roading and the trims are incredibly well-equipped.
